Mouthfeel

« Back to Glossary Index

The impression of a mead as it is taken into the mouth and swallowed. Can be broken down into fore (early, as the mead hits the tongue), mid (as the wine is held in the mouth prior to swallowing), and aft (as, and just after, the wine is swallowed). The mouthfeel of a mead can be influenced by residual sugar, alcohol, body, acid levels, tannins and other flavor components.
